Ildemaro J. González serves as the chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer for Rush University System for Health. González leads the development and execution of the organization’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy, with a focus on shaping DEI commitment to impact Rush’s clinical care, academic, workforce and community engagement priorities.
As a DEI thought leader with over 20 years of experience, González is recognized for his ability to design and implement innovative DEI strategies both domestically and globally. He works to ensure DEI is aligned with the Rush’s strategic priorities, influencing every aspect of operations.
Prior to joining Rush, González held leadership positions overseeing DEI efforts at Emory Healthcare, the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Parkland Health and Hospital System, Newell Rubbermaid and the American Cancer Society National Home Office. His expertise in building strong partnerships with executives, operational leaders and board members has driven the successful, long-term adoption of DEI initiatives that have had a lasting impact on operational results, organizational culture, as well as patient and employee experience and outcomes.
González earned an MBA from Georgia State University and a BBA from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello, in Caracas, Venezuela.
