Current Administrative Fellows

Aissa Cabrales, MPH, MSW

Aissa Cabrales graduated with her Master of Public Health and Master of Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. At UC Berkeley, she served as the co-lead of Alianza Latine for Public Health Action (ALPHA), where she spearheaded initiatives to uplift Latine perspectives in public health and foster professional development opportunities for students.

Cabrales has held various roles in healthcare operations, research and clinical care. Most recently she engaged in research on racial bias in medical devices and pulse oximetry purchasing. Previously, Cabrales worked as a clinical pharmacy operations intern at Kaiser Permanente, where she conducted health equity research and developed a governance playbook to integrate equity principles into departmental operations. As part of her final Social Welfare Practicum, she also worked as a bilingual care coordinator at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, supporting a pediatric mental health care access program designed to increase timely access to mental health care for youth throughout California, particularly in the state's most underserved and rural areas. In this role, she facilitated community referrals, connected families to mental health resources and contributed to initiatives aimed at improving behavioral health integration in primary care settings.

Cabrales earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish, with a minor in Sociocultural Anthropology, from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is from Alsip, IL. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, pilates and drinking coffee.

Kaitlyn Begley, MHA

Kaitlyn Begley earned her Master of Health Administration from the University of Kentucky. While in graduate school, she served on the student association board as the Healthcare Financial Management Association representative. In this role, she helped connect students with healthcare finance professionals, organize events and shared opportunities for learning and networking.

Begley completed her summer internship with OhioHealth in Columbus, Ohio. She helped plan the development of a new outpatient lactation clinic designed to support over 200 visits a year and staffed by four full-time employees. She completed research and worked with a team of 13 people to move the project forward. Begley also improved leadership rounding practices at the 330-bed hospital by creating and rolling out a standardized Excel-based tracking system, which was later used by the MedSurg Cardiac unit.

Begley received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky where she majored in Public Health. Kaitlyn enjoys hanging out with friends and family, working out, going to sporting events, trying new restaurants and volunteering with the Lexington Humane Society.

Sahana Saravanan

Sahana Saravanan is a current Master of Healthcare Administration candidate at The George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health. While in graduate school, she worked as a behavioral technician for children with autism spectrum disorder. During her time at the clinic, Saravanan focused on providing culturally competent care to a multicultural patient and provider population while gaining insight into the fundamentals of operations in a small ambulatory clinic setting.

She completed her summer internship with Nihon Keiei, a consulting firm in Osaka, Japan, working as a consulting intern. There, Saravanan helped explore foreign markets for expansion, visited healthcare facilities, and traveled around the country.

She completed an administrative internship at Manning Family Children’s Hospital (previously Children's Hospital New Orleans), where she led projects related to cost savings in laboratory and facilities management, data visualization and the development of the cancer service line. She also worked on patient advocacy initiatives within dialysis. Through this experience, Saravanan gained a deeper understanding of operations across various departments, sparking her interest in clinical operations and strategy.

Saravanan earned a Bachelor of Science in Cellular Biology and Psychology from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, in May 2023. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, solving jigsaw puzzles, jogging and spending time with family and friends.
